Wild poop stinks. It’s squishy and filled with icky things like hair, bones and skulls. But in the animal kingdom, scat is way more than undigested remains. For a deer, poop is social media. To a dung beetle or a worm, it’s a bowl full of multivitamins. Poop is disguise for a spider to escape predators. For a hoopoe, it’s a way to protect her chicks.
