Lemony Snicket is the pen name of American author Daniel Handler, and the narrator of A Series of Unfortunate Events, thirteen darkly comic novels following the Baudelaire orphans — inventive Violet, bookish Klaus, and sharp-toothed baby Sunny — as they are relentlessly pursued by the villainous Count Olaf through a succession of dreadful guardians and increasingly terrible situations. Brilliantly written, wickedly funny, and unexpectedly moving, the series is a celebration of clever children, good books, and the importance of looking at the world with clear eyes. Highly recommended, despite everything.
