She has been on the committee of the Bombay Natural History Society from 1980 to 1984 and has written extensively on gardening, health, and the environment. A founder member of the Palni Hills Conservation Council, she invests much of her time in working with students on the importance and preservation of natural resources. She has three books to her credit: Common Trees of India, Trees of India and Flora of the Southern Western Ghats and Palnis (2016, Niyogi Books).
